Afghanistan cricket team captain Hashmatullah Shahidi emphasized the importance of delivering a strong performance to overcome Australia, a formidable opponent, in their upcoming Champion Trophy  match. Speaking at a press conference held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Shahidi acknowledged Australia’s strength but expressed confidence in his team’s ability to rise to the challenge.

Shahidi highlighted the team’s boosted morale following their recent victory over England, particularly praising Ibrahim Zadran for his outstanding innings of 177 runs. He stated that the squad is fully focused on the match against Australia and will enter the field with a well-prepared strategy. “We believe in hard work and will strive to present our best game against the world champions,” Shahidi said.

The Afghan captain also took a moment to thank the passionate cricket fans in Lahore for their unwavering support, which he believes will further motivate the team.
