Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meets today in Peshawar for Ramadan moon sighting

ISLAMABAD: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet in Peshawar today (Friday) (29th Shaban) for the Ramadan moon sighting.

However, the Met Office has said there is little chance of sighting the Ramadan moon on Friday due to cloudy weather in the parts of the country, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, Chairman of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, will preside over the meeting. The federal government convened the committee meeting in Peshawar in an attempt for a unified start to the holy month across Pakistan,

The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony stated in a statement that the meeting will be held at the Auqaf Department building in Peshawar, while zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will convene simultaneously at their respective headquarters.

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will hold its session at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, in the federal capital.

Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees will hold separate meetings in their respective regions, but the final decision on moon sighting will come from the central body.
