SWABI: Senior leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former speaker of the National Assembly, Asad Qaiser, on Friday condemned the blast in Haqqania Madrassa in Akora Khattak, calling it a tragic incident.
Speaking at the inauguration of Kala Pul in Swabi, he also led prayers for the victims.
Mr Asad Qaiser said attempts were being made to create an environment for a new war in the region, but he warned that the entire nation and political leadership would collectively resist such efforts.
He stated that they wanted durable peace, not war, and vowed to unite the entire nation for peace. “For the past 40 years, Pashtuns have been carrying the coffins of their loved ones,” he said, adding that the Soviet war imposed conflict on Afghanistan, which had lasting repercussions for Pakistan, including the rise of the Kalashnikov culture.
He asserted that sustainable stability in the region is impossible without peace in Afghanistan. “If anyone thinks another war can be imposed on our areas, they are mistaken,” he remarked, recalling the displacement of people and the economic devastation caused by previous military operations.
Mr Asad Qaiser urged that all political leadership from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with regional elders and other stakeholders, be included in the state’s policy-making process.
He stressed the need for an Afghanistan policy based on local consultation to ensure lasting peace and stability.
