PESHAWAR: “Tour Da Pekhawar” and Collective Pakistan, with the support of the Kofi Annan Changemakers and Global Shapers Peshawar, successfully organized Safar e Aman, a unique initiative aimed at promoting peace, interfaith harmony, and cultural heritage among the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Safar e Aman tour took participants on a journey through the historical walled city of Peshawar, visiting iconic landmarks such as the All Saints Church, Masjid Mahabat Khan, Gurunath Mandar, Gor Kathri, Heritage Trail, Qissa Khwani, and Sethi House.

The tour provided a platform for young people to explore and appreciate the rich cultural and religious diversity of Peshawar.

Shahid Ali Khan, Founder of “Tour Da Pekhawar”, emphasized, “Our effort is to showcase the true image of Peshawar and break stereotypes. We want to highlight the city’s rich cultural heritage and promote peace and interfaith harmony among its citizens.”

Shahab-ud-Din, Project Lead of “Safar e Aman”, added, “Harmony exists within our nature and community. We just need to showcase it to unlearn the dogmas we have learned over time.”

The event also featured thought-provoking discussions and reflections on the importance of acceptance, tolerance, and coexistence. Participants shared their personal experiences and insights, highlighting the need to leverage culture, heritage, and history to reaffirm the existence of harmony in the region.

In a symbolic gesture of their commitment to peace, participants took pledges to promote peace, tolerance, and interfaith harmony in their daily lives. This pledge serves as a reminder of the importance of individual actions in creating a more harmonious society.

As Jamaima, a tour participant, noted, “Visiting religious sites was a wholesome experience. Having my Muslim friends in church warmed my heart.”

Zobia, a Peshawar-based lawyer, shared, “I have lived all my life in Peshawar, but I had not explored these sites till now. Today’s experience was overwhelming and beautiful.”

Oliyab Tinki, a Christian activist, emphasized, “Peshawar is a land of peace and love. We need to own it by keeping our identities intact.”

Safar e Aman is a testament to the power of community-driven initiatives in promoting peace, interfaith harmony, and cultural understanding. By leveraging the region’s rich cultural heritage, this initiative aims to inspire a new generation of leaders to build bridges, promote acceptance, and celebrate diversity.
