Khyber: Tensions flared on the Pak-Afghan Torkham border late Tuesday night as heavy exchanges of fire broke out between Pakistani and Afghan forces, marking a significant escalation in the week-long standoff between the two nations. The clashes, which began around 11 PM, involved the use of both small and heavy weapons, with loud explosions echoing across the region and causing widespread alarm among residents.
Eyewitnesses and security sources confirmed to *Pakhtun Digital* that the intense cross-border firing created a state of panic in the Torkham Bacha Mena area. Many locals, including women and children, were forced to flee their homes, seeking refuge in safer locations such as Landi Kotal. Vehicle drivers and residents reported being gripped by fear as the situation rapidly deteriorated.
Authorities have yet to report any casualties, but the severity of the clashes has prompted precautionary measures. Landi Kotal Hospital has been placed on high alert, with medical staff instructed to remain on duty and ambulances prepared for emergencies. The hospital is on standby to handle any potential casualties as the situation unfolds.
