KP Government Launches Major Energy, Solar, and Water Projects for Sustainable Development

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, led by Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, has started several important projects in energy, solar power, and water sectors.

These projects aim to promote sustainable development, protect the environment, and tackle climate change, following the vision of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

In the energy sector, the government is building a 120-kilometer transmission line in the Swat Corridor. This will help boost industries and improve the economy.

Additionally, 130,000 homes are being equipped with solar power at a cost of Rs 15 billion, and 628 mosques are also being solarized. A 175 kW solar mini-grid has been set up in Mohmand district to solve energy shortages in the area.

In the water sector, the government is working on gravity-based water projects. One such project in Mansehra, costing Rs 18.5 billion, will benefit over 200,000 people. Another project will provide clean drinking water from the Indus River to 77,000 people.

In irrigation, the Chodhwa Zam Dam in DI Khan has been completed at a cost of Rs 33 billion, helping irrigate 19,500 acres of land. The Mohmand Dam Canal System project is also underway and will irrigate 22,000 acres of land.

In the oil and gas sector, the government has cleared old royalty payments worth Rs 10.18 billion and completed the solarization of government buildings at a cost of Rs 8.2 billion.

These projects are major steps toward the development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They will not only meet energy and water needs but also support environmental protection and sustainable growth.
