"Amial Wali Khan: Eradication, Not Politics, Key to Fighting Terrorism

PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party’s president and senator has written an open letter to the president, Asif Ali Zardari, about the ongoing security situation in Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan and alleged genocide of Pakhtuns and Balochs.

The letter expresses concern over the poor law and order situation and increasing terrorism in Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

The letter demands the President to convene a joint session of Parliament on the situation in Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Aimal Wali Khan has said that the people of Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have been facing terrorism for the past several decades.

Every time the people of these two provinces face a new test as a result of state policies. Even today, the market of terrorism and unrest is hot in many districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said in the letter that the government had completely lost its writ in most districts of Pakhtunkhwa.

Terrorist elements are openly carrying out operations, target killings and terrorist attacks have become the norm.

Aimal Wali highlights in the letter that a large number of civilians, including police, Levies, and FC personnel, are being martyred in these attacks. The government and law enforcement agencies have so far failed to take effective measures.

He pointed out in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, people have been forced to live in fear and insecurity. This situation has not only made the lives of ordinary citizens unbearable. The deteriorating situation has deepened the frustration, uncertainty and sense of deprivation among the people. If the situation continues like this, the situation in Pakhtunkhwa, it would not be different from the situation in Balochistan in the coming times. The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been burning in the fire of terrorism for the last five decades.

He said the people of Pakhtunkhwa have picked up the bodies of their loved ones, left their homes. The Pakhtuns have lost their lands, businesses and jobs, but their sacrifices have not been acknowledged to this day.
