PARACHINAR: The District Bar Association Parachinar has written to the Prime Minister, Army Chief, President, and Ministers of Interior and Foreign Affairs, highlighting a worsening humanitarian crisis in the Kurram.
In its letter, the district bar said that the Tal-Parachinar highway has been closed for 160 days, which led to critical shortages of essential supplies, including food, medicines, and other basic items.
They said that more than 300 people, mostly children, have been killed due to the shortage of medicines. Fuel shortages have forced schools to shut down in the district.
The economy is collapsing as commercial activities remain suspended. Courts at the district and tehsil levels are inactive, leaving litigants in distress, read the letter.
Visas of many residents of Kurram working abroad are stranded due to the closure of roads.
The Bar Association has urged the President of Pakistan to take immediate notice. They demand the immediate reopening of the Tal-Parachinar Road.
