LAHORE: Punjab Police have arrested a seven-member gang, including three women and two government officials, for allegedly using social media to lure and extort citizens through a ‘honey trap’ scheme.
Reports indicate that the gang operated by using women on TikTok to befriend victims online. Once trust was established, the victims were invited for an in-person meeting, where they were ambushed.
The group not only robbed the victims but also filmed them being stripped and assaulted.
Following a complaint, police launched an operation and successfully apprehended all seven suspects.
Among those arrested were Asim, a junior clerk in a government department, and Waqas, a Dolphin Force official.
Authorities recovered mobile phones, handcuffs, a pistol, and cash from the suspects.
The accused have been handed over to the investigation wing for further interrogation.
