KP to take up energy issues with federal govt

Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah instructed energy officials to prepare strong proposals and recommendations to protect KP’s rights and share them with federal authorities.

PESHAWAR: A high-level meeting was held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), led by Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah. The meeting focused on the province’s energy needs, power generation, financial matters, and crude oil production.

Officials discussed ongoing hydropower projects, unpaid bills, and legal issues related to energy and oil that need federal attention.

The meeting also talked about important issues like transferring WAPDA’s hydropower plants to KP, getting financial help for WAPDA projects, and setting temporary electricity prices.

Progress on World Bank-supported projects was also reviewed.

Special attention was given to KP’s constitutional rights under Articles 154, 158, 161, and 172 of the Pakistan Constitution.

Other topics included the 2012 Petroleum Policy and taxes on crude oil.
