Pakistan Army’s Under-16 football talent hunt for merged districts’ youth concludes

KOHAT: The football trails under the Pakistan Army Under-16 football talent hunt tournament for the youth from the merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa concluded here at a local stadium.

A total of eight teams from merged districts Bajaur, Mohmand, North Waziristan, Khyber, South (Upper and Lower) Waziristan, Bajaur, Mohmand, North Waziristan, Khyber, and Orakzai.

Pakistan Army local commander Colonel Malik was the chief guest on the occasion.

After a series of intense matches, the Mohmand team emerged victorious, while the North Waziristan team secured the runner-up position. Both teams were selected by the Pakistan Army for their football development programme.

Colonel Malik distributed prizes among the players to encourage their participation and achievements. “It is important to recognise and promote talent from all corners of the country, and this initiative was designed to do just that,” said Colonel Malik, the local commander.

The primary goal of the tournament had been to foster interest in sports among the youth, alongside academic activities, ensuring a balanced development for young people.

The youth and local elders thanked the Pakistan Army for organising the tournament and had praised the initiative as a positive step for the region.
