NORTH WAZIRISTAN: The North Waziristan district administration on Tuesday issued guidelines for mobile SIM usage to maintain law and order in the area.
To improve the law and order situation in North Waziristan, Deputy Commissioner North Waziristan Muhammad Yousuf Karim has issued instructions that in the light of the decisions of the National Action Plan of the Government of Pakistan, the Apex Committee and the Illegal Spectrum, comprehensive SOPs have been issued for the prevention of all illegal mobile SIMs, their misuse, and improvement of law and order in North Waziristan district.
All franchise centers, retailers, and BVS device holders are directed to strictly follow the following instructions: Original National Identity Card is mandatory and it is necessary to ask the customer for original National Identity Cards at the time of issuance of any new mobile SIMs.
Complete and secure management of records All franchisees and retailers will be obliged to keep a clear photocopy (both sides) of the National Identity Cards of the applicant.
Registration and reporting a complete record would be compiled of all SIMs issued. Details of mobile SIMs issued every month will be mandatory to be provided to the SHO of the concerned police station.
The SHO of the concerned police station will sign the register after verifying the details, and a copy of the record will be kept in official custody.
NOC will be mandatory for Biometric Verification System devices and retailer status.
All cellular network companies will invite formal applications for the issuance of BVS devices and the assignment of retailer status.
Each application would be submitted to the office of the Deputy Commissioner of North Waziristan, where approval will be given only after the issuance of a security clearance certificate by the local police and NOC by the district administration.
No BVS devices will be provided without the permission of the district administration and police.
Strict legal action would be taken in case of violation. All franchisees, retailers, and concerned persons are strictly directed to ensure full implementation of these regulations and the public is requested to immediately inform the district administration if any illegal activity is reported.
