Khoat Borka Residents Decry Lack of Schools, Clean Water in Protest

KOHAT: Residents of Borka, a remote village in Kohat, protested at the Kohat Press Club on [insert date], accusing local political leaders of neglecting their needs and misusing their power. The elders, including Malik Tahir Hussain, former Nazim Chinar Khan, and Borka Peace Committee head Sher Rehman, expressed frustration over the lack of basic facilities like clean drinking water and proper school buildings.

Malik Tahir Hussain, a community leader elected by 25,000 residents, claimed his authority was undermined when assembly members appointed their preferred candidate as the “number keeper,” a key local position. The elders also criticized National Assembly member Shehryar Khan Afridi, Provincial Assembly members Shafi Jan Orakzai and Dawood Afridi, and Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam Afridi for failing to address the village’s issues.

Borka lacks basic infrastructure, forcing children to study outdoors in harsh weather. The elders warned of escalating protests, including a boycott of the anti-polio campaign, if their demands are not met.
