PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa spokesperson Barrister Dr. Saif has strongly rejected Defence Minister Khawaja Asif’s statement on the floor of the house regarding terrorists being settled in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He called the remarks misleading and baseless.
The defence minister had alleged that thousands of fighters from the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) relocated to the country.
He accused the federal government of using such claims to cover up its failure in tackling terrorism. “If Khawaja Asif knows of any terrorist settlements, he should act instead of making accusations,” Dr. Saif stated.
He challenged the minister to name a single terrorist allegedly resettled in the province. “The Defence Minister is responsible for the entire country’s security, not just Islamabad’s borders,” he added.
Barrister Saif criticised Asif for politicising a sensitive issue like terrorism. “Terrorism cannot be fought with statements alone. It requires real action,” he asserted.
Referring to Asif’s past apology for supporting martial law, Dr. Saif said, “It would be better if he also apologized for Form 47.” He further demanded an apology to Rehana Dar for allegedly becoming an MNA through the same process.
Dr. Saif also held the defence minister responsible for the recent Balochistan incident. “He should accept responsibility and resign,” he demanded.
