KOHISTAN: Eight police personnel were injured when a police van plunged into a ravine in the Shetial area of Upper Kohistan here on Wednesday.
According to the police, they had received information about the killing of Maulana Noor Muhammad, a resident of Daril, in the firing by unknown persons in Shatial Bazaar.
On the instructions of SDPO Gohar Wakeel, an 8-member police team led by Noor Nabi, in-charge of Shatial Chowki, was in pursuit of the suspects when their van met with an accident on the way and fell into a deep gorge.
As a result of the accident, 8 police personnel were injured, one of whom was immediately referred to a hospital in Abbottabad due to his critical condition, while the other 7 personnel suffered minor injuries and were discharged after being provided first aid at Rural Health Centre Shatial.
Security has been further tightened in the area after the incident, while a search operation is underway by the police to arrest the suspects. The concerned authorities have indicated a complete investigation into the incident to determine the causes of the accident.
