PESHAWAR: Around 214 accused persons imprisoned in pretty nature cases were released from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa jails on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr 2025.
The Registrar Peshawar High Court has issued a report saying that District and session judges visited various jails in thier respective jurisdictions of the province ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr.
During their visits, they heard the cases of prisoners involved in minor crimes. Their cases were disposed of and confined accused persons were released from jails.
According to the report, a total of 214 prisoners were released from 34 jails in the province.
Out of these 69 were released from Peshawar Central Jail, 25 from Swabi Jail, 16 from Mardan, 9 from Kohat, 10 from Haripur, and 11 from DI Khan Jail.
The report issued by the Registrar Peshawar High Court states that on the directions of the Chief Justice, accused persons imprisoned in minor cases in the province’s jails were released.
President Asif Ali Zardari had announced a special 180-day remission of prisoners’ sentences on the occasion of Pakistan Day and Eid-ul-Fitr.
