PM Shehbaz extends support to Myanmar following devastating earthquake

PM Shehbaz Condoles with Iranian President Over Bandar Abbas Tragedy

ISLAMABAD:Prime Minister PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and widespread destruction caused by the powerful earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28.

In a phone call with Myanmar’s Prime Minister and Chairman of the State Administration Council, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Sharif conveyed Pakistan’s heartfelt condolences and unwavering support to the affected nation.

“Pakistan stands in full solidarity with the people of Myanmar in this hour of grief,” the Prime Minister said, emphasizing the close ties between the two countries.

To assist in relief operations, Sharif announced that Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) would send around 70 tons of humanitarian aid to Myanmar. He expressed confidence in Myanmar’s resilience and hoped for a swift recovery from the disaster.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to global humanitarian efforts, Sharif assured that Pakistan would continue to extend support in times of need.

In response, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s timely assistance and solidarity, calling it a testament to the strong bilateral relations between the two nations.

The earthquake has caused significant damage in Myanmar, with reports of numerous casualties and destroyed infrastructure. International aid efforts are underway to help the affected communities recover.
