Hammad Azhar resigns from all PTI positions

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab chapter Acting President Hammad Azhar has resigned from all party positions.
He took to X to announce his resignation from party positions. In his post, he said party leaders accused him of blocking others’ work. He also cited a lack of autonomy in his constituency.

Azhar said Azam Swati told Imran Khan that Alia Hamza faced obstruction. When Khan asked who was responsible, Swati named Azhar.

Azhar claimed he had no control over party matters. He said four regional presidents, directly appointed by Khan, held the authority.

He asked Alia Hamza if he had ever obstructed her. She denied it and expressed surprise at the accusation.

Azhar said he had tried to resign twice before, but PTI rejected his requests. He highlighted his contributions during Khan’s imprisonment.

He recalled his exclusion from elections and his efforts in rallies despite the risk of arrest. He also mentioned challenges, including damage to his business and his children’s exile.

Despite these hardships, he said their ultimate goal mattered more.

“I did my best. Now, I will continue as a worker for my future leader,” he said.

Azhar had resigned as PTI Punjab president in August due to limited access to Imran Khan. He had also stepped down in March, citing legal troubles. PTI rejected both resignations.
