KP Bar Council to boycott courts tomorrow to express solidarity with Palestinians

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council has announced to boycott of court proceedings to express solidarity with Palestinians.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council stated that lawyers would hold protest demonstrations in all districts against the Israeli bombardment in Gaza.

The statement read that no lawyer will appear in the courts and suspend all other activities in solidarity with the Gaza people and protest Israeli bombardment.  All lawyers of the province should boycott court proceedings, it added.

The development takes place amid the latest Israeli military campaigns in Gaza after it broke down last month’s ceasefire with Hamas.

After securing hostages, Israel resumed ground operations in the central and southern Gaza Strip and forced hundreds of thousands to flee again.

The KP Bar Council urged Muslim rulers to show unity and compelled Israelis to honour the ceasefire deal.

At least 50,000 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli’s ground and air offensive in Gaza since October 2023, Palestinian officials say.

Pakistan, which does not have diplomatic relations with Israel, has consistently criticising Israel for its military operations in Gaza.
