PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) cabinet has decided to include transplant and implant services in the Sehat Sahulat program. The cabinet approved the government to bear the costs of kidney, liver, bone marrow transplant and cochlear implant under the Sehat Sahulat program.
According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesperson Barrister Saif, in the next phase, rehabilitation of drug addicts will also be included in the Sehat Card.
According to details, the 30th meeting of the provincial cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur, in which decisions were taken related to many important sectors, including education, health, local government development, and skill development of youth. The meeting was attended by cabinet members, the chief secretary, the advocate general, additional chief secretaries, and other senior officials.
According to Information Advisor Barrister Dr. Saif, the cabinet has approved a fund to provide free books to government school students, and instructions have also been issued to prepare a plan for quality printing and the reuse of books. Moreover, a principled decision has also been taken to provide free school bags to children in the new academic year. The cabinet expressed concern over the large number of children deprived of education and considered a comprehensive strategy to bring them to schools.
The cabinet has approved increasing the PTC fund from Rs 5 billion to Rs 7 billion annually, and has been directed to ensure effective use of this fund.
The cabinet approved rules related to the use of cannabis for medical, research, and industrial purposes. The cabinet approved a non-ADP scheme for the Peshawar Ring Road (Warsak to Nasir Bagh link). A new scheme for supplying drinking water to Peshawar from Mohmand Dam was also approved.
The meeting approved apprenticeship rules to provide technical training opportunities to the youth, under which the youth will be able to learn to work in factories.
The cabinet also approved increasing the grant for religious schools from Rs 30 million to Rs 100 million.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet approved the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Servants Housing Foundation Act 2025, which aims to provide housing facilities to government employees. The cabinet approved the merger of the Governor Inspection Team and the Provincial Inspection Team. While the Governor Inspection Team had lost its effectiveness after the merger of the tribal districts, now this work will be carried out by the provincial team. A committee has also been formed to improve the performance of the provincial inspection team.
