Iran and the United States US will hold another round of negotiations next week following what both sides called “positive” discussions about Tehran’s advancing nuclear program. The talks, held on Saturday in Oman, marked the first direct communication between the two nations since President Donald Trump returned to office.
Iranian state TV reported that U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had a brief face-to-face conversation—a rare moment of direct diplomacy after years of tensions. The White House described the talks as “very positive and constructive” but acknowledged that resolving the issues would be “complicated.”

The next meeting is scheduled for April 19 in Oman. The stakes are high, as Trump has previously threatened military action if no deal is reached, while Iran has warned it could move closer to building a nuclear weapon.
