ANP calls for countrywide movement against proposed KP Mines, Mineral act

PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP) leadership on Monday announced the launch of a countrywide movement against the proposed amendment to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mines and Mineral Act.

The announcement was made during a high-level press conference held at Bacha Khan Markaz on Monday. ANP’s central president, Aimal Wali Khan, General Secretary Mohammad Saleem Khan, former chief minister KP, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, ANP KP’s president, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, MPA Nisar Baz, Sardar Hussain Babak and others were in attendance.

While addressing the presser after briefly discussing the proposed bill, ANP chief Aimal Wali Khan said that their party wouldn’t support the proposed bill but would rather launch a countrywide movement against it.

He said the government of KP was deceiving the nation in the mines and mineral bill, which indeed would be a robbery of the KP resources, on which KP inhabitants have the first right.

Mr Wali said that if the proposed bill was not withdrawn, they would launch the protest movement in June.
“We are not ready to compromise or sit with anyone on this issue, but to want abolition of the proposed bill. We reject this bill at all,” the ANP head said.

He said their struggle would continue until the 18th Constitutional Amendment was fully and formally implemented.
