MASTUNG: At least three personnel of the Balochistan Constabulary were martyred and several others were injured in a bomb attack on a police vehicle in Mastung, Balochistan province on Tuesday.
The incident happened in the Shamshabad area of the Mastung and several of the wounded people are in critical condition.
Media reports say that 19 others including policemen were injured in the blast.
According to initial reports, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), fitted to a motorcycle, went off as a police vehicle was passing by. The explosives were triggered through a remote-controlled device.
Balochistan Government spokesperson Shahid Rand confirmed the blast and said that they were deployed for security of the Balochistan National Party (Mengal) sit-in and were coming from RTC Qalat.
He said that the condition of the two injured were critical. The critically injured people are being shifted to Quetta where a state of emergency has been declared in Bolan Medical Complex Hospital and Civil Hospital.
Following the blast, the police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation in the surrounding area to collect evidence and arrest the culprits.
No group has claimed the attack yet.
