Immunization ratio decreases in KP with alarming level

 

PESHAWAR: The rate of complete vaccination of children in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is decreasing at an alarming rate due to lack of awareness in far flung mountainous areas of the province and lack of basic health facilities.

Source said that 57 percent of children have received all the necessary vaccinations, while 43 percent of children have not received vaccinations, posing an imminent danger even for healthy children, Health Department.

There are several districts of the province where the vaccination rate is extremely low.The situation is especially worst in the tribal areas, with the lowest vaccination rate. Only 2 percent of children in South Waziristan have received all the vaccinations, Health official said,

Besides this in North Waziristan agency four percent of children have received all the vaccinations, while six percent of children in Upper Kohistan have received all the vaccines.  Only 22 percent of children in district Torghar have been fully vaccinated.

However, the situation is slightly better in some districts, where the vaccination rate is more than 80 percent, in Upper Dir the vaccination rate is 93 percent, In Buner, this ratio is 87 percent in while in Bajur 86 percent children were vaccinated.
