The Intelligence Bureau and ISI present reports regarding the Afghan Nationality of ‘Arshad Chai Wala’

RAWALPINDI: The Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench adjourned the hearing regarding the dual nationality of “Arshad Chai indefinitely after the Intelligence Bureau and ISI report.

 

According to the report, Justice Jawad Hassan of the Rawalpindi High Court bench heard the petition. During the hearing, the NADRA representative sought time to submit a further report on Arshad Khan, which was granted by the court.

Arshad Chai Wala’s lawyer also requested an adjournment for further reply in the petition, which was granted by the honourable court. Deputy Attorney General Sajid Tanoli appeared on behalf of the government.

On the court order, the ISI and IB submitted a report stating that Arshad was an Afghan citizen. According to the report, Arshad Chai wala’s original name was Zar Khan, son of Baz Muhammad Khan.

According to the petitioner, Arshad Khan Chaiwala was born in 1999 in the Shah Allah Ditta area of ​​Islamabad. He received his primary education from Government School Shah Allah Ditta. His father, Baz Khan, obtained a Pakistani passport in 1984 and went to Saudi Arabia to work as a labourer in 1989.

The petition stated that Arshad Khan has been running a tea stall in the Sunday Bazaar, Islamabad since the age of 17. Arshad obtained a NADRA identity card in 2017 and a passport in 2016. The NADRA Passport Office checked all the documents and issued an ID card and passport.

The petition stated that the decision to block the ID card and passport is illegal. Blocking the ID card and passport destroyed the petitioner’s tea business. Due to which, Arshad Chai Wala’s global fame, Pakistan also received a huge amount of foreign exchange from social media.

The petition further stated that Arshad Khan Chai wala has never been to Afghanistan nor does he have an Afghan identity card or passport, he is a member of a poor family, and his property registry prior to 1978 is being sought.
