International financial institutions have announced significant funding to support Pakistan in the wake of devastating floods.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has announced $3 million in emergency assistance for the country. The bank’s president stated that this money will be provided from the Asia Pacific Disaster Response Fund. The funds are specifically designated to help rehabilitate families who have been affected by the recent floods. The ADB president also expressed his deep sorrow for the lives lost due to the heavy rains and flooding.
This announcement follows earlier support from the United Nations (UN), which has released an initial sum of $600,000 in aid for the flood victims in Pakistan.
According to a UN spokesperson, Pakistani authorities are leading the overall relief operations. The United Nations, along with its local partner organizations, is providing crucial support to these efforts on the ground.
