ISLAMABAD: Advisor to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM on Information Barrister Saif and Advisor to PM on Political affairs, Rana Sanaullah in a meeting have agreed to develop a consensus over political reconciliation between PTI and PML-N led coalition government.
According to private TV channel (ARY) News, Rana Sanaullah proposed a political understanding with the PTI during the meeting, to which Barrister Saif responded positively and said, “A consensus can be reached if both the opposition and government demonstrate flexibility. A significant development has come to light amidst the current political scenario. In a meeting between the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesman, Barrister Saif, a consensus was reached with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Rana Sanaullah clarified on this occasion that to move the political process forward, discussions will have to be held with the political government itself. It may be recalled that yesterday, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan had said in a media interview that the doors of negotiations with the establishment were never closed on the instructions of founding Chairman Imran Khan, however, the path for decisive talks is yet to be paved. Barrister Gohar had further said that consultations with Imran Khan are ongoing on regarding Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s offer of talks, but formal negotiations have not yet begun at any level.
Political observers say that recent statements and meetings indicate that serious efforts are being made to reduce political tensions in the country, and if things move forward, there may once again be hope for political stability in the country. The government and opposition leadership have repeatedly emphasised that consensus and dialogue at the national level have become indispensable to get Pakistan out of the current crisis.
