Torkham border reopens for pedestrian crossing

Khyber: Over 50 Afghan families have voluntarily left via the Torkham border for their home country, Afghanistan, on Friday as repatriation of Afghan refugees continued across the country after the government decision.

According to officials, more than 50 families have left for Afghanistan in 12 trucks in two days via the Torkham border in Landi Kotal.

The repatriation of Afghan refugees had begun via the Torkham border after the Eid holiday.

160 people, including children, the elderly and women, have left for Afghanistan via Torkham.

Work on the Landi Kotal Holding Center for the evacuation of illegally residing Afghan families has been completed,

Registration process has not been started formally at the Landi Kotal Holding Center. Staff of relevant institutions have been deployed in the holding center.
