KARACHI: Afghanistan’s hopes of reaching the Champions Trophy semi-finals came to an end as South Africa secured qualification on the basis of superior net run rate.
In the tournament’s 11th group-stage match on Saturday, South Africa bowled out England for 179 in 38.2 overs, further boosting their NRR and eliminating Afghanistan from the semi-final race.
New Zealand, India, and Australia had already secured their places in the semi-finals.
From Group A, India and New Zealand advanced, while South Africa and Australia progressed from Group B.
