AI in education a must, not a choice: Secretary education

ISLAMABAD: Federal Secretary for Education, Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani has underscored transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in revolutionising teaching methodologies and enhancing learning outcomes.

Speaking at a comprehensive workshop focused on leveraging AI to develop foundational literacy and numeracy skills, Mr Wani expressed profound confidence in the capabilities of Pakistani students.

“AI integration in education is no longer optional but a necessity. It equips students with essential future skills, fostering creativity, innovation, and problem-solving from an early age,” he told participants.

The education ministry, in collaboration with the National Institute of Excellence in Teacher Education, organised a workshop at the Institute of Art and Design, bringing together over 400 educators and experts to explore the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in foundational literacy and numeracy teaching.

Organisers stated that the workshop aimed to empower primary school teachers with innovative methods and practical strategies for incorporating AI tools into their teaching practices.

The event featured insightful sessions led by renowned organisations, including the Federal Directorate of Education, National Institute of Excellence in Teacher Education, Federal College of Education, Pakistan Foundational Learning Hub, NUST Tech Fellows, and other key educational institutions.
