PESHAWAR: The president of Awami National Party, Aimal Wali Khan, has slammed the Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf (PTI) led government for allocating Rs 50 million to the Lahore High Court Bar Association from the KP treasury.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s approval to provide an additional Rs 50 million to the Lahore High Court Bar Association has been included in the cabinet agenda, to which Awami National Party Central President Senator Aimal Wali Khan has reacted strongly.
He said that the tax money of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is being distributed among “political friends of Tehreek-e-Insaf”.
Aimal Wali Khan stated that the public treasury of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is being depleted at an alarming rate. Large sums are sometimes spent on lawyers in Lahore, while at other times, extravagant banquets take place. Meanwhile, the people are suffering from hunger; hospitals lack medicines, and schools are short on teachers and basic facilities. Yet, millions of rupees continue to vanish in the name of Lahore.
He added that even before this, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had given Rs 30 million to the Lahore High Court Bar, and now the approval of another Rs 50 million is tantamount to “political bribery”.
Aimal Wali Khan criticised the silence of NAB and other accountability institutions, stating that these organisations primarily target the opposition and engage in political engineering. He questioned why these accountability institutions remain spectators while those in power continue to plunder public funds.
Senator Aimal Wali Khan also criticised those PTI workers who voted in the name of “freedom” and today their representatives are busy “printing notes”.
He demanded that the distribution of wealth of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa be stopped, an immediate ban be imposed on the payment of all unnecessary funds, and the truth of these “political gifts” be brought to the public through a transparent inquiry.
