QUETTA: Leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Balochistan criticised the Balochistan National Party (Mengal) and Sardar Akhtar Mengal calling him unpatriotic, a blackmailer, and a supporter of terrorists.
Addressing a press conference, PPP leader and provincial minister Sadiq Umarani said that Akhtar Mengal, the self-proclaimed leader from a union council, often brings shifting demands. Sometimes raises 6 points like Sheikh Mujib, and sometimes patronizes terrorists. He claimed Mengal lacks clear goals.
Government spokesperson Shahid Rind, and other PPP leaders including Ali Madad Jattak, Sadiq Umarani, Faisal Jamali, and Asfandyar Khan spoke at the press conference.
They strongly condemned Akhtar Mengal for the language he used against the PPP. He said that PPP has always used the language of respect and honour. Sadiq Umarani said leaders from Dera Union Councils often bring shifting demands. He claimed they lack clear goals.
He stated the PPP has made sacrifices in its democratic struggle. He said the party never backed down despite challenges.
Umarani accused Mengal of using women as shields to protect terrorists. He called Mengal’s politics cowardly and self-serving.
He claimed Mengal received Rs15 billion from PML-N President Nawaz Sharif. Now, he pretends to fight for people’s rights, Umarani said.
He said Mengal fears arrest under the MPO. He revealed that BNP leaders were blocked from entering Shahwani stadium after a 500-kg bomb plot was uncovered.
Umarani warned that Mengal’s secrets, if exposed, would ruin his public image.
Ali Madad Jattak called Mengal the “B team” of terrorists. He said Mengal ignores jailed women and follows a selective agenda.
Jattak said Mengal feels threatened by the Chief Minister’s development work. He claimed PPP ministers have never been caught with briefcases of cash.
He reminded the media that the PPP supported the BNP in the 2018 elections, helping them win.
Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar also attacked Mengal. He said Mengal backs terrorists like Mah Rang.
Kakar accused Mengal of disrespecting women and democracy. He said Mengal stays silent on Aziz Talpur’s arrest, revealing double standards.
Kakar said the PPP always stands against terrorism. He said Mengal cannot accept this.
He urged Mengal to stop blackmailing the government. He made it clear the government won’t bow to pressure.
Umarani concluded by defending the Chief Minister’s visit to the President. He said Mengal politicized a goodwill gesture.
He accused Mengal of ignoring the murder of workers. He called it proof of Mengal’s insensitivity.
