ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Member of the National Assembly Sher Afzal Marwat has claimed that the party is increasingly embracing hereditary politics, with key positions being filled based on recommendations rather than merit.
Speaking to a private TV channel, Marwat expressed concerns over the internal chaos within PTI, stating that the party’s troubles began after its founder, Imran Khan, was imprisoned. He alleged that an attempt was being made to “take over the party from inside the founder’s house,” adding that the ongoing crisis stemmed from there.
Marwat revealed that Salman Akram Raja was appointed as PTI’s Secretary General on the recommendation of Aleema Khan, Imran Khan’s sister, while Ali Amin Gandapur was removed from his position at the request of Bushra Bibi, the former prime minister’s wife. He criticized the trend, recalling that PTI had previously mocked other parties for dynastic politics but was now falling into the same pattern.

The PTI leader also disclosed that there had been three attempts over the past year and a half to negotiate a deal for Imran Khan’s release, with Ali Amin Gandapur playing a key role. However, he claimed that social media uproar derailed these efforts each time they neared finalization.
Marwat warned that such rumors and online clamor were harming the party’s efforts to secure its leader’s freedom.
