A large numbers of residents of the Tehsil Mamond area staged protest demonstrations and demanded that the provincial and federal government immediately stop the military operation in the area, otherwise the people will take the law into their hands.

The protesters, while holding the Holy Quran in their hands, have asked the security forces to withdraw their forces from the area and leave the people alone without interfering in their affairs. The protesters were led by former MNA Gulzafar Khan and incumbent MPAs and PTI office bearers in the area.  They said that there was peace and stability in their areas, but whenever the operation was launched, people were being targeted for no reason.

They said that the imposition of a long curfew has badly affected their routine business and daily activities, as people have patients in their homes and need treatment and dialysis in various hospitals, but due to the imposition of the curfew, they could not move from their areas to treat their patients.

The protesters raised the Holy Quran in their hands and cursed those who were disturbing the peace of the area, saying that the people have already faced a long period of militancy and military operations, and now imposing a curfew in the area is tantamount to depriving the people of their livelihood.

On this occasion, local businessmen also expressed concern over the prolonged curfew from morning to evening, which has badly affected their business activities. They said that all of their shops and bazaars remained closed during the curfew, and people were restricted to their houses due to shelling and firing by the security forces.

The protesters demanded that the government immediately lift the curfew in the area and immediately withdraw troops from the Bajaur district; otherwise, they would stage violent protests across Bajaur for which the administration would be responsible.
