RAWALPINDI: Tight security arrangements have been made in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi in view of the expected protest by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI).
Jail Superintendent Abdul Ghafoor Anjum has written a letter to the CPO Rawalpindi requesting the deployment of additional security personnel.
The jail administration has demanded the deployment of additional police personnel from Gate No. 5 to Dahgal Check Post, installation of barriers and prevention of illegal gatherings due as PTI has planned a demonstration outside the jail on August 05, today.
The letter states that the number of 7,700 prisoners in Adiala Jail is much more than the actual capacity of the jail of 2,174, and the situation is very sensitive due to the presence of prisoners in political and terrorist cases.
Tight security measures have been declared necessary to prevent untoward incidents, and cooperation has also been requested from the Home Department, IG Prisons and RPO.
It is to mentioning here that PTI will hold rallies across the country to express sympathies with their founding leader Imran Khan and demand peaceful protests for his early release. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar said that these rallies would be peaceful as per their democratic rights. On the other hand, Punjab and Sindh governments have banned all rallies and protests for the release of Imran Khan, and anyone who violates the order would be arrested.
