Muqam commemorates Pakistan Accession Day, supports Kashmir’s historic decision

India fails to crush spirit of IIOJK residents fighting for self-determination: Amir Muqam

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs and Minister for SAFRON, Engineer Amir Muqam, while issuing a special message on the occasion of Pakistan Accession Day, has reiterated full support for the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination and their historic decision to accede to Pakistan.

Highlighting the significance of the day, Engineer Amir Muqam said that July 19, 1947, was a decisive turning point in the history of the State of Jammu and Kashmir, when it decided to accede to Pakistan through a unanimous resolution, which was based on religious, cultural and geographical affiliations.

“Despite fighting three wars with India, Pakistan has always maintained its principled stand for a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute under the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council,” he said.

Engineer Amir Muqam strongly condemned the decades-long Indian military occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and termed it a blatant violation of the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people. “India’s atrocities and continued human rights violations have not weakened the spirit of Kashmiris but have further strengthened their resolve to join Pakistan,” he said.

He reiterated that Pakistan will continue to provide moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people until they achieve their right to self-determination under UN resolutions. On this historic day, we pay tribute to the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and assure them that Pakistan will never back down from their cause.
