Roof collapse in Gadoon camp claims life of elderly man

Two die, two others injured in rain-related incident in Karak

SAWABI: An elderly man succumbed to his injuries when the roof of a house collapsed in the Gadoon Camp area of the Swabi district on Sunday night.

The victim, identified as Mohammad Nawaz, was trapped beneath the debris when the roof caved in unexpectedly. According to local sources, the structure may have weakened due to recent weather conditions or poor construction, although an official cause is yet to be determined.

Upon receiving the call, rescue teams from Rescue 1122 swiftly arrived at the scene and began operations with the help of residents, who joined hands in a desperate attempt to save the man. Despite their best efforts to remove the heavy debris, Mohammad Nawaz was found in critical condition and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital.

Sadly, doctors at the hospital confirmed that the victim had succumbed to his injuries before medical aid could be administered. The sudden loss sent shockwaves through the local community, turning a peaceful home into a scene of grief and mourning.

Authorities confirmed that the deceased hailed from Gujrat and had been residing in Swabi for work. Further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the collapse and assess whether the structure met safety standards.

The local administration has expressed condolences to the bereaved family and assured that relief and support measures will be extended to help them in this difficult time.
