Angry mob stops hotel sealing in Swat as safety concerns ignored

Public movement, fishing, and bathing banned near Swat River by authorities

SWAT: Tensions flared in Swat after the district administration tried to seal the Relax Hotel, located near the Swat River, over safety concerns following deadly floods. Locals and tourists surrounded officials and protested, forcing the Additional Assistant Commissioner to leave without sealing the hotel.

Angry demonstrators chanted slogans against Rescue 1122 and the administration, blaming them for failing to prevent the tragedy. So far, nine bodies have been recovered from the floodwaters, while five people—including three tourists from Punjab and two from Mardan—remain missing.

Rescue efforts were suspended due to dangerous water flow and darkness but will resume in the morning. Authorities warned people to stay away from the river, as currents remain dangerously strong.
