ANP Bajaur protest against closure of Nawa Pass

 

BAJAUR: The Awami National Party (ANP) Bajaur chapter on Monday held a demonstration against the closure of a crucial border with Afghanistan ‘Nawa Pass’ and demanded safe return of medical students, studying in Afghanistan.

The Awami National Party local chapter had called a protest rally in Navagai bazaar on Monday which was addressed by MPA elect from Bajaur, Nisar Baz Khan, former candidate for NA, Maulana Khan Zeb and others and highlighted the problems of the local communities of Bajaur.

A large number of people from various parts of the district participated in the protest and also shouted slogans against the government for the closure of the Nawa pass and stranded students in Afghanistan.

The speakers on the occasion demanded that Nawa Pass, which is a crucial trade route for the entire Malakand division.

They demanded that 1,300 students of Pakhtunkhwa studying medicine in Afghanistan should be allowed to come to Nawa Pass or Torkham immediately, while the provincial government should make arrangements for these students to bring them back by air.

The resolution expressed concern over the growing unrest in Pakhtunkhwa and Bajaur.

The resolution condemned the provincial government’s failure to provide development funds to Nisar Baz, the elected representative of PK-22.

The resolution also demanded the restoration of mobile signals in the Chamarkand and Kamangrah areas to present missing persons in courts.

The protest was also addressed by a large number of people and ANP workers, including MA Nisar Baz of Constituency PK-22, ANP Central Secretary for Ulema Maulana Khanzeb, District President Gul Afzal Khan, General Secretary Shah Naseer Khan, Sheikh Jhanzada, Additional General Secretary Siddique Akbar Jan, Tehsil Nawagi Sadar Chairman Imran, Qazi Abdul Manan, Malik Hikmatullah Mamond, Malik Abdul Baqi, Nawagi ANP President Sahibza Malang Jan, Nawagi Bazar President Qiyas Khan.
