Awami National Party (ANP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Mian Iftikhar Hussain has slammed the current power crisis, load shedding, and government indifference, saying, “What kind of system is this that electricity is missing in the scorching heat? Electricity is generated from our resources, but we are being deprived of this same electricity. Why? Aren’t the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa citizens of this country?”
He said that others have control over the province’s natural resources, while the burden of suffering and sacrifice is put on the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“Where is the justice in this? There is no electricity, no relief for the poor. When they install a solar system to help themselves, they are also taxed. Does the government want the people to be buried alive? Inflation has broken the backs of the people, and now the unannounced power shutdown has made it even more difficult for the people to live. Every year, this same load shedding starts as soon as the heat arrives. Why hasn’t the government made any plans yet?”
He further said that “The rich class uses free electricity while sitting in AC, while the poor are deprived of every facility; this double standard will not work anymore!”
Mian Iftikhar Hussain has demanded that the government immediately end load shedding and implement a fair electricity system.
“We fully support the public protest in Pabbi Nowshera. If the government does not wake up, there will be protests in every district and every village of the province. The measure of public patience has been exhausted; now is the time for a decision! The first right over the natural resources of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa belongs to the Pakhtuns. Electricity is ours, the power is ours. We are also equal citizens of this country, not subjects!
