Senator Aimal Wali Khan, the Central President of the Awami National Party (ANP), has strongly condemned the cowardly attack carried out by the Israeli government on the sovereign territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He expressed complete solidarity with the Iranian people during this time of great sorrow and national tragedy. The ANP deeply regrets the loss of esteemed military leaders and officials who were targeted in this despicable act of aggression. Their sacrifices will never be forgotten.
Senator Aimal Wali Khan emphasised that the ANP recognises Iran’s legitimate right to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens against all forms of foreign aggression, as outlined in the United Nations Charter. He described this Israeli aggression as a dangerous and unacceptable provocation. The silence of the international community, which has been allowing ongoing atrocities in Gaza, has become even more intolerable. The world cannot remain a silent observer while the Israeli regime continues to destroy entire populations in violation of international law, as it has done in Gaza, and pushes the region toward increased tension.
Aimal Wali Khan noted that the ANP believes any strategy by Israel aimed at destabilising or overthrowing the Iranian government would be an extremely dangerous and irresponsible action for the entire Middle East. Such moves could lead to a regional conflict with devastating consequences. The ANP calls on all responsible regional powers to support Tehran diplomatically and politically. A collective regional response is essential to halt Israeli aggression and prevent future dangerous attacks.
He concluded by stating that the pathway forward should focus solely on negotiations and de-escalation, rather than unilateral acts of violence that could lead to disaster for the entire region.
