PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) provincial president Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that the recent conflict in Kurram was exacerbated due to the provincial government’s unserious attitude.

“If timely intervention had been made, there would not have been such a huge loss of life and property,” the ANP leader said while addressing a ceremony held at Bacha Khan Markaz on Tuesday, he said that the provincial government is not serious about stopping the ongoing local conflicts in Waziristan, due to which Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is deprived of peace and stability.

Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan are at a critical juncture, and any kind of war between the two countries will not be in the interest of the Pakhtuns on both sides.

He said that there is talk of air strikes justifying the presence of terrorists in Afghanistan, but this issue should be resolved at the diplomatic level.
