ANP seeks to publicise the Ramazan package beneficiaries’ lists

PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP) provincial president, Mian Iftikhar Hussain asked the PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to publicise the Ramazan package beneficiaries lists as PTI distributed the payment among their workers.

The ANP provincial president, Mian Iftikhar Hussain held a news conference about the grave concern of the public about the Ramazan financial aid, which they claimed was given to the PTI workers.

ANP provincial chief said instead of getting it to the deserving people, the Rs10,000 of the Ramazan package was being distributed on political grounds. The deserving people were being deprived of their rights, while the officials, ministers and MPAs of the ruling party were giving it to their voters, relatives and favorites.

He said the purpose of the Ramazan package was to provide relief to the people, but the government’s deliberate mismanagement has turned it into nepotism.

While holding a press conference at Bacha Khan Markaz along with other cabinet members including provincial senior vice president Syed Aqil Shah, general secretary Hussain Shah Yousafzai and spokesperson Arsalan Khan Nazim, ANP provincial president Mian Iftikhar Hussain termed the Ramazan package as political bribery and said that where did the funds for the Ramadan package come from? If these have been taken from the Zakat fund, then not reaching the deserving people is blatant dishonesty. The provincial government is robbing the rights of the deserving people out of personal preference.

He demanded that the judiciary take immediate notice of this government corruption, that the lists of all beneficiaries of the Ramazan package be published and that this process be made transparent through NADRA or any other impartial body.

Expressing concern over the growing terrorism and unrest in the province, Provincial President Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that terrorism was on the rise in Pakhtunkhwa. Bomb blasts, target killings, extortion and other incidents have become the norm of the day. The government has completely failed to prevent these incidents and establish peace.

He further said that the nation has no faith in further operations and negotiations. Manipulation of words will not work anymore, seriousness must be shown. The supremacy of parliament and the rule of the constitution should be ensured. Mr Hussain said domestic and foreign policies should be reorganized according to national interest. A clear and consistent policy should be formulated against terrorism.

He said problems with Afghanistan should be resolved diplomatically; war is not the solution to the conflicts. Pleasant relations should be established based on equality with all neighboring countries.

Provincial President Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that it was not appropriate to link terrorism to any particular nation. He warned the government that politicising the refugee issue could harm Pakistan internationally.

He said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have become deeply disappointed, and their problems are increasing due to the government’s poor policies.
