Circle Officer Anti-Corruption Swat, Bidar Bakht, took immediate action against a contractor who provided substandard foam mats during a major operation at the Saidu Group of Teaching Hospital in Saidu Sharif. During this operation, 180 non-compliant mats were seized on-site for failing to meet the PC-1 standards.
The operation was initiated following a complaint received by the Directorate of Anti-Corruption Establishment Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from a citizen named Arbab Naveed. The complaint alleged that the contractor had not delivered mats according to the PC-1 specifications but instead supplied substandard mats from other manufacturers, which fell under the category of corruption.
An inquiry was launched under the leadership of Malik Khan Afsar Khan, Assistant Director of Anti-Corruption in the Malakand Division. The investigation confirmed the allegations, revealing that the contractor had intentionally violated the rules.
The contractor was given one week to address the deficiencies and provide 320 standard mattresses in compliance with the PC-1 standards. Remarkably, within the designated period, the contractor supplied all the mattresses that met the required standards. Subsequently, the case was forwarded to the Directorate of Anti-Corruption Establishment Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for further legal action.
The Director of Anti-Corruption Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, issued a clear warning that the misuse of government resources, corruption, and the provision of substandard goods will not be tolerated. He emphasised that prompt and effective action will continue against such complaints.
