Anti-encroachment operation begins along Swat River on CM KP Gandapur’s orders

Non-bailable arrest warrants issued for CM Ali Amin Gandapur, others

PESHAWAR: On the orders of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, an anti-encroachment operation has been launched along the Swat River. The joint drive—led by the district administration, police, and other departments—aims to swiftly remove all illegal structures, with no leniency shown to violators.

According to the CM’s spokesperson, all illegal mining near the river has been shut down, strict legal action is underway, and protective barriers are being built along the banks. The operation’s scope will later expand beyond the Swat River.

This action follows the recent drowning of 12 people in the river. In response, CM Gandapur gave a three-day deadline for clearing encroachments and also announced mandatory registration of all hotels during an inquiry committee meeting.
