The anti-polio action plan has been finalised for DI Khan, Bannu districts in a high-level meeting held at the Civil Secretariat Peshawar, chaired by Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The meeting was chaired by the chief secretary KP Shahab Ali Shah, to finalise the district-level action plans for Dera Ismail Khan and Bannu divisions for the period of August to December 2025. The two-day session focused on comprehensive discussions regarding anti-polio efforts in the southern districts of the province. Deputy Commissioners, District Health Officers, and representatives of District Emergency Operation Centres from D.I. Khan and Bannu divisions, along with all relevant stakeholders, participated in the meeting. The discussions centred on aligning district-level strategies with the broader provincial strategy. During the session, district teams presented their operational plans, which included modern micro-planning methods, detailed analysis of gaps, and targeted strategies to overcome challenges in high-risk areas vulnerable to poliovirus. The finalised plan will serve as a comprehensive framework for all polio campaigns to be conducted between August and December 2025 and will also guide future interventions beyond the scheduled campaigns.

The meeting was also attended by the National Emergency Operations Centre Coordinator, the Additional Secretary Health/Coordinator of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa EOC, team leads from UNICEF and WHO, technical focal persons of the Polio Eradication Initiative, and other senior members from both the national and provincial EOCs.
