KHYBER: An armed gang looted cash of around Rs 14.08 million from Al Habib Bank Limited in Bara Bazaar of Khyber tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is the second robbery in the span of two days. Earlier on Monday, armed men had looted a bank van in Peshawar, the provincial capital, at brought daylight.
According to the Station Housing Officer (SHO) Bara Hardam Gul, around five gunmen who were riding a motorcycle entered the Bank Al-Habib branch and held the staff and customers hostage at gunpoint before looting all the cash available in the bank.
The bank branch is located about one kilometre away from Bara Police Station.
It is pertinent to mention here that Allied Bank had suspended its operations in the area after two robberies incidents in the recent past.
Soon after the incident was reported a heavy contingent of police reached the spot and started investigation.
Yesterday, a cash van belonging to Bank of Punjab (BoP) was looted on a busy road in Peshawar.
