Armed suspects flee after police open fire in Bannu

BANNU: Police in Bannu foiled a potential security threat after detecting suspicious movement by suspected militants near the Sheikh Landak post in the limits of Hoveed Police Station.

According to officials, personnel at the checkpost spotted armed individuals belonging to the Fitna al-Khawarij group late at night. The officers opened fire, forcing the suspects to flee under the cover of darkness. No casualties or property damage were reported.

DIG Bannu Sajjad Khan and DPO Bannu Saleem Abbas Kalachi praised the police team’s swift response, stating that their vigilance prevented a possible terrorist attack. They emphasized that the Bannu Police is well-trained and equipped to counter such threats.

Authorities confirmed that security forces are closely monitoring militant activities in the region and will take immediate action against any suspicious movements to ensure public safety.
