Asia Jahangir accuses PTI of excluding women from political process

PESHAWAR:Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Asia Jahangir has strongly criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), claiming the party marginalizes women despite presenting itself as youth-focused and progressive.

Speaking on the Pakhtun Digital Podcast, Jahangir stated PTI “is completely ignoring 51 percent of the country’s population – women.” She highlighted the absence of female representation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s provincial cabinet, noting there are no women ministers or advisors.

Jahangir further pointed out that KP’s budget lacks concrete plans for women’s welfare. She argued that despite significant support from women voters, PTI has excluded them from meaningful political participation.

The PPP leader specifically referenced Mashal Yousafzai, who was briefly included in the KP cabinet before being removed, as evidence of inconsistent commitment. Jahangir emphasized that real national development is impossible without women’s representation and rights protection, urging all political parties to address this gap.
