Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, while addressing the Pakistan mineral investment forum, vowed to strengthen the country’s economy by protecting the interests of partners and investors through a robust security framework.
Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir said that Pakistan was ready to emerge as a leader in the global mineral economy.
He said they welcomed international institutions to enlighten Pakistan with their expertise, explore investment opportunities and partner with them in developing the vast resource potential. Engineers, geologists, operators and many expert miners were needed to extract the mineral wealth of Pakistan, which was why they were also sending students for training abroad to develop this sector.
Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir added that 27 Pakistani students from Balochistan were currently training in mineral exploration in Zambia and Argentina. “Our aim is also to create manpower, skills and human resources for the mineral sector,”
He further said in his address that economic security had emerged as an important component of national security, and the Pakistan Army would ensure a robust security framework and proactive measures to protect the interests and trust of its partners and investors.
Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir further said that the development of upstream and downstream mineral industries in Pakistan would also be ensured. “It is important that investment is made in refining and value addition in Pakistan to improve cost efficiency and diversify markets. With vast mineral reserves under the feet of the Pakistani people, expertise in their hands and a transparent mineral policy, there is no room for despair and inaction,” the Army chief emphasised.
He said that they, the Pakistani voice partners and investors, assured you that it was their collective national desire to benefit from your expertise and get benefits from Pakistan’s mineral wealth by doing business. Pakistan would be a reliable partner.
COAS appreciated the efforts of Baloch tribal elders and said that he also recognizes the efforts of Baloch tribal elders who had played an important role in promoting mining activities and the development and progress of Balochistan.
In conclusion, he said that by working together, Pakistan’s mineral sector can promote regional development, prosperity and sustainability for the collective benefit.
